How connecting to your inner child helps you lose weight

If you are struggling to lose weight despite dieting and exercise,

what you are missing may be a connection with your inner child

When you hear your inner child, you may think it’s for people who are going through severe mental problems. I used to think so.

Oh boy, was I wrong!

Connecting to my inner child was one of the best things that I’ve done. It helped me open the door to a whole new world. It’s one of the key components that enables you to heal your relationship with yourself and your body. I hear the same thing from many of my clients.

So what is your inner child?

Your inner child is a part of you, but a lot of us don’t even know that she exists. She is a little version of yourself from childhood, and what she wants is to be loved and cared for. She also wants something YOU wanted when you were a kid but couldn’t get, like feeling secure, peaceful, or spontaneous.

She is a pure and innocent part of you before you started thinking and acting like an adult, thinking logically, suppressing your feelings, and pretending to be strong. But your inner child doesn’t understand any of these rules and responsibilities. All she wants is to be happy and loved. And the only person who can give her that is you.

So why is connecting to your inner child important?

#1: It will help you feel complete and balanced.

As I mentioned, your inner child is a part of you. You may not feel or hear her, but she is there. So not connecting to her, let alone not acknowledging her causes problems.

Have you ever felt empty within even when everything seems fine, and you can’t think of any logical reasons why you feel that way? Or You know what you should do, but you just don’t feel like doing it? Or Your heart starts beating fast when you see or hear something with no explanations?

These are some of the examples of what happens when you are disconnected from your inner child. You can be successful in some areas of your life, but there would always be a part of you that lacks something because you are not balanced.

#2: It’s a way to pay attention to your subconscious mind.

They say your subconscious mind is created sometime between birth and the age of 7. All the things that happen in this period go into your subconscious mind, and you spend the rest of your life trying to prove them right.

So if your parents told you that you are not good enough when you were a kid, you would spend your life proving that you are not good enough. You may choose a job that you are not that good at or get attracted to someone who is not interested in you. All these experiences would result in making you believe that you are not good enough. And what’s scary is that you do this to yourself unconsciously.

Your inner child is the representative of your subconscious mind. She is pure and innocent, so her message may not come out as you imagine, but you can definitely feel it if you pay attention. Sweating, fast heartbeat, heavy chested, and heartache are some of the body sensations that could be related to her messages.

#3: It will help you heal your old emotional wounds.

Your inner child is a little version of you who represents what’s in your subconscious mind. If your subconscious mind is full of sad and painful experiences, she will come out as a sad girl, and she makes you feel that way even if you have everything you want in life. If your subconscious mind is full of joy and happiness, she will come out as a happy girl, and she would keep your spirit up even when you feel like nothing is working.

So acknowledging her is the first step you can take to learn what’s in your subconscious. And then you will know which wounds are causing your inner child acting the way she is.

Facing these wounds may be painful, but they could be healed by simply connecting to your inner child and giving her what she needs. If she wants love, do what makes YOU feel loved. It doesn’t mean to have the person in your life love you more or go look for a relationship.

Remember, you are the only one who can give her what she wants, so do anything that makes you feel loved. It could be taking a bath, cuddling with your fur-babies, or spending time with your friends.

So how does connecting to your inner child help you lose weight?

Your inner child is sacred. And so is your body. Your body is a vessel that is run by your mind and soul. It won’t respond if it’s not aligned with them. And since it’s one of the tools that your inner child uses to communicate with you, you have to treat it with love.

When we want to lose weight, we tend to put ourselves on a strict diet and be hard on our bodies. But it’s actually the complete opposite of what we should do. If your inner child is happy and fulfilled, she would help you get what you want, including healing your relationship with your body and therefore helping you lose weight.

So start to pay attention to her. See how she is feeling and what she is telling you.

The moment you become aligned with her, you would be better equipped to find and heal those emotional wounds that are doing you a disservice and you’ll start seeing a pathway to spiritual and personal development.
